Hot Water Sewer Jetter Trailer

Justin came to us with a challenge.  He works for an industrial services company, and one of his larger clients was having trouble with their grease trap lines clogging.  These 8" pipes would get fully stopped with packed grease.  Justin had been renting sewer jetters, but the rental prices were sucking the profit out of the job.  He needed something effective and quick.

Because this system would be working in a difficult environment and because this trailer has to do plenty of traveling, we decided to overbuild the system a bit.  We elected to use a Catamount 500 trailer with tandem 6,000 lb axles, but we installed a 325 Gallon fresh water tank.  Since these pipes get stuck in the worst way, we needed plenty of power, so we went with an 8 gpm Landa PGHW hot water pressure washer.  The heat will soften and melt the grease, and the 8gpm at 3000 psi would provide brute force.

We wanted 300 feet of 1/2" sewer line, and we installed it on a Hannay electric rewind reel.  At the end of the sewer hose, we put on a bullet-style sewer nozzle that has 1 jet forward and 6 back.  The forward jet will blast the obstruction, while the 6 backwards jets will push the hose further down the line.   The areas around the clean-outs can be tight, so our fabricator built a swivel so the Hannay reel could feed from the back or either side.

When things get extra stuck, we installed a pulse jet on the pump.  When activated, the hot water jet will pulse back and forth to obliterate any obstructions.

While primarily built as a sewer jetter, the system retains the ability to be a pressure washing rig.  The shut-off valve can be used to control the 1/2" sewer line, but there is also a quick disconnect where standard pressure washing accessories can be attached.

This is one rugged and tough system built to last.
